资源简介:
Inhalation of unwanted air pollution is a primary source of environmental exposure and therefore impacts public health. There has been a growing body of literature highlighting the potential impacts of traffic-generated air pollution on the brain including neuropathological outcomes in humans, which may be mediated by the inhalation of particles. Translocation of inhaled particles through cell-based barriers (e.g. lung epithelial barrier and BBB) is a key pathway by which particles could potentially impact the brain following inhalation. Using ISIS Neutron and Muon Source facilities to investigate the effects of particulate exposure on lipid dynamics would provide insights into biological endpoints likely to be affected by exposure to air pollutants and contribute to the growing scientific understanding of mechanisms by which inhaled particles may impact the brain.
