It ranks as the third largest island in Canada and the largest island within the Queen Elizabeth Islands, a subgroup of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Administratively, the island falls under the jurisdiction of Nunavut Territory, Canada. The geographical coordinates of Ellesmere Island span from 76°7'53"N to 83°7'0"N and 61°5'34"W to 91°54'32"W. Its area, calculated via the Albers projection, is 199,038.01 km². Its coastline length, calculated via the Lambert projection, is 14,067.77 km. Grise Fiord is the largest community on the island, with Grise Fiord Airport located in its vicinity. This dataset was developed based on the 2015 Global Multi-scale Land-Sea (Island) Shoreline Dataset using Google Earth remote sensing imagery, combined with relevant Canadian cartographic materials. The dataset comprises 25 individual data files stored in .kmz and .shp formats, with an uncompressed total size of 17.2 MB. It is compressed into 3 data files with a total size of 12.2 MB.
