Supplementary Material to 'Risks associated with subtotal cholecystectomy and the factors influencing them: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 85 studies published between 1985 and 2020'

This is the supplementary material for the paper titled “Risks associated with subtotal cholecystectomy and the factors influencing them: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 85 studies published between 1985 and 2020”. This review appraises 17 clinical outcomes among 3,645 patients. It shows that there are significant risks of subtotal cholecystectomy-related perioperative morbidity and postoperative interventions that are not comparable to the risks associated with conventional cholecystectomy. It also shows that patients would benefit most from a reconstituting subtotal cholecystectomy using a laparoscopic approach. This supplementary material provides further methodological and analytical details.
