This series comprises the first official state register of marine births and deaths under the Births Deaths and Marriages Act of 1855. The volume records Newcastle Marine Births 1859-1886 and Marine Deaths 1857-1894.Endnote1. An Act for registering Births Deaths and Marriages of 1855, (Act No. 19 Vic. No.34), section 38 set the first day of March 1856 as the commencement date.
