Dung beetle gut-content DNA extraction and amplification of 12s rDNA and 16s rDNA was tested with multiple dung beetles from Ecuador. From Germany, only 12s rDNA was extracted. Beetles were collected using standard pitfall trapping and the DNA sequences were used to create trophic networks.
