资源简介:
Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. (Commonwealth), under agreement with Lu Engineers, performed the investigation. The investigation focused on the Clement-Wilder-Richardson Farmstead Site (A05314.0005), which contains archaeological deposits and structure foundations. The scope of work for the investigation called for an assessment of the current state of preservation of the Farmstead and the need for mitigation of potential adverse effects of federal undertakings there. At the kick-off meeting for the project on August 25, 2016, it was stressed that a boundary of the Farmstead be established to allow for the complete protection of the archaeological resource. In addition, supplemental research on the farmstead economy was to be conducted. The field investigation established a boundary for the artifact deposits within the area south of the southernmost road (Hercules Drive) within the Stockbridge Facility. No artifacts were recovered from tests west of the barn and a single recovery was made from the north side. Testing correlated with the previous close interval except to the east of the house, in the yard area. There, artifacts were recovered approximately 80 feet (24 meters) beyond the earlier investigation. Research indicates that the Farmstead economy was varied in 1870, with an emphasis on dairying. All features and foundations associated with the property are contained within the area identified archaeologically and the farm lanes between fields are the only features adversely effected by the Stockbridge Facility.
