Hydrothermal technique was used to synthesize the bimetallic material of CuxCo1-x in this work. The single substance Co was loaded on the surface of Cu, since the electrons generated by the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of the Cu surface. CuxCo1-x exhibits high photocatalytic conversion of CO2 efficiency under irradiation, which mainly because the Co nanoparticles on the surface of Cu can be used as cocatalysts to enhance the photocharge transfer. The optimum molar ratio of Cu to Co is 6:4, which exhibits the comparatively best photocatalytic conversion efficiency of CO2. Electrons were generated when the light illuminating, and most of the electrons move to the interface, which helps to prolong the lifetime of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, thus enhancing the photocatalytic performance to be enhanced.
