Seven-dimensional model of life aspirations by Kasser and Ryan: analysis of validity and reliability of the instrument

The article presents the Polish adaptation of the measure called Aspiration Index, designed by T. Kasser and R. Ryan. The tool is used to measure two types of aspirations - intrinsic (personal development, relationships with others, community feeling) and extrinsic (wealth, fame, image), as well as health aspirations. Results of three studies were presented. The first study demonstrated a good fit of the authors᾿ seven factors model and a satisfactory reliability of each aspiration. Results of the second study showed a positive relationship of intrinsic aspirations with positive feelings and subjective well-being. The third study demonstrated a positive relationship between extrinsic aspirations - wealth, popularity and image - and the materialistic orientation.
