Following the discovery of a potential cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) factor in the sugarcane mitochondrion, orthologues of rice, sorghum and maize CMS rescue factors were identified and assembled using sugarcane transcriptomic factors. These CMS factors were PCR amplified from the cDNA libraries of SP80-3280 and N22 prior to Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) MinION sequencing.
