Impact of surface water infiltration on groundwater microbial communities during riverbank filtration

In this project we analyzed changes in microbial community composition in groundwater in response to induced surface water intrusion during riverbank filtration. Our aim was to discern the degree to which changes in microbial community composition in the groundwater were determined by changes in environmental conditions due to groundwater-surface water mixing and the influx of surface water-derived microbes.
