Micraspis discolor has been well known as omnivorous ladybird beetle, feeding on not only insect prey but also pollen. M. discolor is one of the few ladybird species that can reproduce on a diet consisting solely of pollen. We here sequenced the transcriptomes of this ladybird fed different diets, in order to understand the mechanism of their pollinivory and to improve the use of this ladybird in pest biological control.
