Azooxanthellate corals live in the vast expanse of the ocean depths, but scleractinian genome of deep-sea species is scarce. Polymyces sp. is a solitary stony coral inhabiting the seamount of Caroline Ridge. The genome of Polymyces sp. can be used for estimating genomic diversity of deep-sea corals, investigating adaptive mechanisms of deep-sea or azooxanthellate species and even exploring the solitary character-associated gene repository.
