A photo of a Japanese family, Los Angeles, circa 1920s. The photo is of a man, woman, 2 girls and a boy at a photo studio. The adults are sitting and the children are standing. At the left is a girl standing with her hands clasped in front of her. She is in traditional Japanese dress of a kimono and tabi socks. To the girls left, sits her mom with her hands folded in her lap. This woman is in a silk dress that falls to mid-calf, mary jane shoes, pearl necklace, large flower pin, glasses and while hat. Standing to the woman's left is another girl, who has a hand in her mothers lap. She is in a patterned dress that falls just above the knee, mary jane shoes and a ribbon on her left shoulder. To the girls left is a man sitting in a chair, with his hands resting on his thighs. He is in pants, a white button down shirt, vest, tie, coat, and shoes. He is wearing glasses and has a pocket square in his coat pocket. Standing to the man's left is a boy with his right hand resting on the arm of his fathers chair. The boy is in pants, a white shirt, tie, buttoned coat, shoes and is holding a flat cap in his left hand. The cardboard frame for this photo indicates that it was taken at T.U. Tsushigawa in Los Angeles. There is writing in Japanese on the back of the envelope / frame. The photo has minimal abrasion damage on the edges and there is adhesive on the back. The cardboard envelope / frame has water damage on the front flap, back, as well as the left and rights sides of the photo backing. There is a partial detachment of the front flap and securing flap. There is also damage from an unknown substance that was on the front flaps and foxing on the back. The internal frame has been detached, and there is abrasion damage on the edges. This photo is in good condition and the frame is in poor condition.
