Study on Synchytrium endobioticum genes expressed during potato wart formation

Synchytrium endobioticum is the causative agent of potato wart. It is an economically important quarantine pest that belongs to the Chytrid fungus. Proper understanding of the molecular basis for S. endobioticum induced tumorigenesis are lacking. Thorough understanding of the tumorigenesis mechanism would significantly help in the battle against the fungus. To better understand the infection process that leads to tumor formation, fungal transcripts expressed during potato wart formation were sequenced and studied.
