BEHAVIOR-EXPRESSING VERBS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK: SEMANTIC NUANCES AND TRANSLATION DIFFICULTIES

This article investigates behavior-expressing verbs in English and Uzbek from a comparative semantic and translational perspective. The study focuses on how these verbs encode subtle shades of meaning related to human actions, attitudes, and psychological states, and how such nuances are shaped by linguistic structure and cultural context. Special attention is given to semantic differentiation, including connotative meanings, intensity, and speaker evaluation, which often vary significantly between the two languages. The research also examines the challenges translators face when attempting to preserve pragmatic intent, emotional coloring, and contextual appropriateness. Using a descriptive and contrastive methodology, the paper analyzes selected verb groups drawn from authentic linguistic data. The findings reveal that while some behavior-expressing verbs have direct equivalents, many require adaptive translation strategies due to differences in semantic scope, cultural associations, and usage patterns. The study highlights the importance of context-sensitive translation and contributes to a deeper understanding of cross-linguistic semantic representation and its implications for translation practice.
