Probe sequence data are given in Supplementary Table S1. “Match” refers to the length of the corresponding mutant probe relative to the wild-type probe in the probe-pair. “Position” refers to location of specific probe sequence where “Proximal” denotes placement of the specific part close to the surface, “Central” denotes placement of the specific part in the middle of the 60 nt DNA and “Distal” denotes placement of the specific part at the end of the 60 nt DNA.
