Varicella zoster virus is also known as human herpesvirus 3. gE protein is encoded by ORF68. DRB4*01-transfected EBV-transformed B-LCL were used as APCs. Truncations of gE peptide 29 (a 20 mer) did not enhance the ELISA response significantly. Therefore, the complete 20 mer (IEPGVLKVLRTEKQYLGVYI) was considered the optimal epitope.
