Pig gut Metagenome

In this study, we evaluated age-related alterations in the bacterial and fungal communities which are present in the ileo-cecal lymph nodes of suckling and newly weaned piglets. The study was conducted in two replicate batches. Piglets received only sow milk or additional creep feed from day of life (DoL) 10. Piglets were weaned on DoL28. Piglets were sacrified on DoL 7, 14, 21, 28, 31 and 35 and the ileo-cecal lymph nodes were collected (n=5/diet/sex/day). The RNA was isolated from the lymph nodes which was transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA). The cDNA was sequenced using Illumina chemistry. The V3-V4 hypervariable regions of bacterial 16S rRNA gene and the ITS2 amplicon were amplified using a 250 bp read length paired-end protocol (Novogene) on an Illumina Novaseq 6000 platform, including the library preparation (NEBNext Ultra II DNA Library Prep Kit) and sequencing.
