Endogenous Parvovirus Rep and VP sequences footprint the genome of certain non-human Primate Families. Endogenous Simian Dependoparvovirus Element

Multiple DNA viruses have evolutionary colonized the germ line (endogenization) of their hosts, yet their mechanism(s) of insertion and biological functions remain largely unclear. Here we report the first comprehensive screening for Endogenous ssDNA Virus Elements (ESVEs) in non-human primate’s genomes currently available in databases. The in silico evidences were systematically supported by molecular amplification and sequencing of the ESVEs and their flanking regions at insertion sites.
