The broader aim of this proposal is to harness the phyllosphere, endosphere, and rhizosphere microbiome of rice and its role in rice health in relation to the important rice pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae.The project targeted to answering a few important questions such as:1. What are the core microbiomes healthy and infected rice? Are they taxonomically or functionally related?2. Could we build a synthetic community of the rice core microbiomes that can successfully recolonise the original host? What factors are involved?3. What are the genetic mechanisms of the pathogen-commensal interactions in rice?4. Could to identify natural bio-control agents against M. oryzae by employing the reductionist approach from the whole or segment of core microbiomes of rice?
