These records consist of Mr Knight’s copies of Cabinet minutes, attachment/appendices to Cabinet minutes; ministerial advices in relation to Cabinet proposals, agendas and decisions; as well as material relating to proceedings of Cabinet Committees. Part of the role of the Cabinet Office is to prepare and distribute Cabinet papers to Government Ministers and those papers are transferred to the Cabinet Office on a Minister’s retirement. Except where files are annotated with Cabinet’s decision, departmental advice or notes for the Minister, the series are copies of the official set of Cabinet minutes. The official set of Cabinet minutes and supporting documentation comprises the series, Cabinet meeting papers, which is recommended for retention as State archives under DR 5206.Michael Steven Knight, B A (Hons), has been the member for the State electorate of Campbelltown since 19 September 1981. With the change of government at the 25 March 1995 election, he became a member of the Carr Ministry. Michael Knight’s portfolios have been Minister for Public Works and Services (March to December 1995), Minister for Roads (December 1995 to December 1996) and Minister for the Olympics (December 1996 until the present – August 1999).
