Atlas of Pausanias' Periegesis
收藏资源简介:
Pausanias’ Periegesis of Greece (Ἑλλάδος Περιήγησις) is a fundamental source for understanding the historical and cultural geography of mainland Greece in the 2nd century AD. This project transforms the text into a structured GIS dataset and an interactive digital atlas. The described landscapes, including poleis, sanctuaries, monuments, and other geographical features mentioned by Pausanias, have been georeferenced and organized into spatial layers. Each feature has been reconstructed and linked to attributes derived from a close reading and interpretation of the ancient text. The resulting dataset enables spatial exploration of Pausanias’ narrative, allowing users to visualize routes, sites, and cultural landscapes within a modern GIS environment.
