VPRS 12877 Manifest Sheets for Relocation of Holdings from Laverton to North Melbourne Repository

The manifests were prepared on a daily basis as part of the management of the relocation. The removalists used the manifests to identify the records that were to be transported for each day. The manifests gave the specific locations of the records at Laverton and their plotted new specific locations at the VAb.Each manifest includes the date, the series, consignments and unit numbers of records, their Laverton row, bay and shelf numbers (locations), and their new VAb row, bay and shelf numbers.The manifests served as daily schedules of work during the move. After the move, they were referred to trace the location of records until the new location of each unit had been scanned or entered onto the electronic database (known as SMART).These records are to reviewed after five years. It is thought that the need to re-trace any units via the manifests will have been dealt with by then.
