Bacterial biocontrol agent (Bacillus subtilis) whole genome sequencing and assembly

The Bacillus strain called LP16S is a recently recognized biocontrol agent of multiple fungi that attack the globally produced sorghum cereal plant. Important sorghum fungal pathogens that are controlled by strain LP16S include Fusarium, Colletotrichum, Curvularia and Bipolaris. The strains whole genome was sequenced with the aim of identifying particular fungal toxins produced by the bacterium.

命名为LP16S的芽孢杆菌（Bacillus）菌株是一种新近被确认的生物防治菌剂，可拮抗多种侵染全球主栽高粱作物的真菌。可被LP16S菌株抑制的重要高粱真菌病原菌包括镰孢菌属（Fusarium）、炭疽菌属（Colletotrichum）、弯孢霉属（Curvularia）以及离蠕孢属（Bipolaris）。为鉴定该细菌所产生的特定真菌毒素，研究人员已完成该菌株的全基因组测序。
