Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1988 comprises 19 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1988. # #Each survey contains a number of demographic variables common to all the surveys of that year, as well as a number of questions dealing with topical events. # #The present survey is a year file based on all the surveys. # #The questions common to all 1988 omnibuses are: #The respondent's sex, age and marital status; size of the household, number of adults (persons aged 13 or more) and children, and age of the children; the respondent's position in the household; the respondent's education, occupational status, public or private employment and income; gross household income; the housewife's occupational status; housing conditions and ownership of the dwelling as well as geographical location and degree of urbanization; age, occupational status and public or private employment of the head of the household; which party the respondent voted for at the last general election and which party the respondent would vote for at a general election on the day after the interview. # #The special questions deal with such issues as: # #Omnibus no. 01 (DDA-1497): #Attitude to Denmark's membership of NATO; assessment of the Government's performance; attitude to Danish ships in the Persian Gulf, and possible protection of these ships; knowledge of, possession of, attitude to, and security concerning shares; pension schemes and tax benefit of these; attitude to tax planning; and attitude to the Inland Revenue Department's examination of the accounts of private limited companies. # #Omnibus no. 02 (DDA-1498): #The development of AIDS in Denmark; attitude to contact with AIDS patients; attitude to obligatory control measures for AIDS patients; attitude to the Middle East crisis; knowledge of and attitude to profit sharing; most important problems to be solved and the influence of these problems on the respondent's party preference; and possession and use of bicycle. # #Omnibus no. 03 (DDA-1499): #Foreign aid; attitude to Denmark's membership of NATO; knowledge of famine problems in Africa; hospital admission; and a possible improvement of health services via tax increases. # #Omnibus no. 04 (DDA-1500): #Attitude to the war between Iran and Iraq; opinion of who will win the war and consequences of this for the world as a whole; future spread of Islam and influence of this; infidelity as grounds for divorce; condoms as a protection against AIDS; and sex information and sexual habits of young people. # #Omnibus no. 05 (DDA-1501): #Attitude to a reduction of the number of political refugees; attitude to Denmark's membership of the EC; best suited leader of the Progress Party; visits to the Royal Theatre; and visiting performances of the Royal Theatre. # #Omnibus no. 06 (DDA-1502): #Attitude to the size of the public sector, to user payment and privatization; attitude to the two political systems (Capitalism and Socialism) and to the influence of these systems on economy and social conditions; infidelity as grounds for divorce; and AIDS. # #Omnibus no. 07 (DDA-1503): #Knowledge of the Danish ministers; the ministers' honesty, 'strength', moral standard and intelligence; and the TV programmes 'Kontrapunkt' (Counterpoint). # #Omnibus no. 08 (DDA-1504): #Attitude to capital tax; assessment of the Government's performance; dog droppings and fines to the dog owners; dog in the household; and knowledge of and attitude to the Danish Gallup Institute. # #Omnibus no. 09 (DDA-1505): #Reason why the general election was held: a breach of an agreement between Poul Schlüter and Svend Auken or merely a political 'stage battle'; the Radical Liberal Party or the Progress Party as supporting party for the non-Socialist Government; and the most important problems to be solved as well as the influence of these problems on the respondent's party preference. # #Omnibus no. 12 (DDA-1506): #Summer holiday plans; reasons for buying books; and membership of a book club. # #Omnibus no. 18 (DDA-1511): #Attitude to Denmark's membership of NATO; assessment of the Government's performance; foreign aid; reasons for voting for the Progress Party; and whether the respondent voted for the Progress Party at the general election in 1987. # #Omnibus no. 19 (DDA-1512): #Reasons for voting for the Progress Party; whether the respondent voted for the Progress Party at the general election in 1987; most important qualities of the man/woman in a successful marriage; activities the day before the interview; and relations to neighbours. # #Omnibus no. 20 (DDA-1513): #Attitude to user payment in primary school; the most important problems to be solved (foreign debt, unemployment, burden of taxation); expected household income; TV in household; whether it is possible to take TV 2 in the household; TV habits; DR TV versus TV 2; and the news programmes on the two TV channels. # #Omnibus no. 21 (DDA-1514): #Knowledge of and attitude to Margaret Thatcher and her policy, and an assessment of whether her policies should be transferred to Denmark;
