In this document, the loss models combined with the scalable analytical model (SAM) to predict the electromagnetic losses in surface-mounted permanent-magnet (PM) motors. The incorporation of the SAM help to enhance the calculation speed of the magnetic field in the iron and PM region with good accuracy compared to the finite-element method (FEM). It enables the prediction of PM loss, copper loss, and iron loss in the PM motor. It is noted that the other loss models are applicable to SAM depending on the requirements of the loss models. This is the case study of motor loss prediction using SAM.
