Metagenomic sequencing of the Spartina alterniflora root microbiome

Shotgun metagenomics of the Spartina alterniflora root-associated microbiome. We sampled bulk sediment, rhizosphere and root samples along a plant biomass gradient in Sapelo Island, GA, USA. The objective of the study was to assess potential differences in plant-microbe interactions along the plant biomass gradient. Emphasis was given to assemble organisms cycling C, N, and S compounds.
