Lactobacillus gasseri 1A-TV genome

In this study, Lactobacillus gasseri 1A-TV, already described for its probiotic activity, is characterized by WGS sequencing and evaluated its antimicrobial activity against clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae producing ESBLs and carbapenemases (KPCs). Whole genome sequencing showed the presence of two clusters of bacteriocin biosynthetic genes: BBGC1 which comprises two class IIc bacteriocins, including the gassericin-like bacteriocin A, and BBGC2 which carries the class III bacteriocin helveticin J. BBGC1 and BBGC2 might be involved in antibacterial effects.
