Candida albicans MRPS01/UM/MY/2024: Genome sequencing and assembly

Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of Candida albicans isolates in Malaysia is essential due to the current lack of local genomic data. Although C. albicans is a common cause of fungal infections in Malaysian women, particularly during pregnancy, its genetic diversity and resistance patterns in this region remain poorly understood.Given its clinical relevance and frequent isolation from pregnant women, sequencing local strains will provide valuable insights into strain variation, antifungal resistance, and support better diagnostics and treatment strategies tailored to the Malaysian population.
