Strategic tablecloths for the future EPA correspond to the water resources that will allow the supply of drinking water in the future, taking into account the potential of the resources and changes in the need for drinking water. For these resources, meeting the needs for drinking water is recognised as a priority.
These are resources:
— which meet quantitatively the challenges of future supply;
— located close to current and future consumption areas;
— of the most satisfactory quality compared to other resources in the sector of the same quantitative scale.
— currently operated, with the exception of the chalk table under alluvions in the Seine Valley.
The strategic tablecloths and associated safeguard zones for the future are intended to be integrated into the basin’s protected areas register.
The identification of strategic resources may lead, depending on the qualitative or quantitative vulnerability, to the definition of complementary management measures in the current SDAGE.
