WAMSI Node 6.3 - Ocean Gliders - Western Australian Integrated Marine Observation System (WAIMOS)

Australian National Ocean Glider Facility (ANFOG) has Slocum gliders (operate at max. depth of 200m and max. endurance of 30 days) and Seagliders (operate max. depth of 1000m and max. endurance of 6 months). Within WAIMOS, the operational costs of the deployment and recovery of these ocean gliders was not included in the original WAIMOS investment and this project provided funding for this purpose.

Both the Seaglider and Slocum glider measured temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, turbidity and CDOM data. The Seaglider will take measurements from the West Australian shelf and slope waters between Dampier and Fremantle while the Slocum glider will take measurements from Two Rocks along the SRFME transect a return via the Perth Canyon.

澳大利亚国家海洋滑翔机设施（Australian National Ocean Glider Facility，ANFOG）拥有斯洛克姆滑翔机（Slocum glider）与海滑翔机（Seaglider）两类装备：斯洛克姆滑翔机最大作业深度为200米，最大续航时长30天；海滑翔机最大作业深度可达1000米，最大续航时长达6个月。在WAIMOS框架下，此类海洋滑翔机的部署与回收作业成本未被纳入WAIMOS的初始投资范围，本项目为此类作业提供了资金支持。两类滑翔机均可采集温度、盐度、溶解氧、荧光强度、浊度以及有色溶解有机物（Chromophoric Dissolved Organic Matter，CDOM）相关数据。其中海滑翔机的观测区域为丹皮尔至弗里曼特尔沿线的西澳大利亚大陆架及斜坡水域，斯洛克姆滑翔机则将沿SRFME断面从双岩港出发，途经珀斯峡谷后折返完成观测航线。
