Development of a cost-effective entanglement tracking buoy to improve disentanglement rates of large cetaceans

Disentanglement tracking buoys provide the ability to track and intercept the entangled whale, greatly increasing the likelihood of disentanglement. It also provides valuable scientific information on the behaviour of entangled whales. A low cost tracking buoy will be developed that can be utilised more widely to respond to cetacean entanglements.

解困跟踪浮标（Disentanglement tracking buoys）能够追踪并拦截受渔具缠绕的鲸类，大幅提升鲸类成功解缠的概率。该类浮标还可为受缠绕鲸类的行为研究提供极具价值的科学信息。本项目将研发一款低成本跟踪浮标，使其能够更广泛地应用于鲸类缠绕事件的应急响应工作。
