Zika virus (ZIKV) is an arbovirus that has re-emerged leading to unprecedented outbreaks across the world. Typically known to cause mild febrile illness, recent reports of severe neurological complications have caused widespread alarm and concern. ZIKV has a number of cellular targets including peripheral blood immune cells. Elucidating how these respond to infection would provide a clearer picture of disease and therapeutic options.
