: Drought is among the most destructive abiotic stresses limiting crop growth and yield worldwide. While most attention has been dedicated to plant-associated microbial communities contributing to plant growth promotion and disease suppression, far less is known about the microbes and mechanisms involved in plant resistance to drought stress. The aim of this study is to decipher the endosphere microbiome to identify drought resistance-promoting bacteria and to unravel the mechanisms by which they protect plants against drought stress.
