VPRS 19400 Medical Council Minutes

This series comprises volumes recording the meeting minutes of the Medical Council at Prince Henry’s Hospital (previously known as Melbourne Homoeopathic Dispensary 1869-1876; Melbourne Homoeopathic Hospital 1876-1934) (VA 441).  The Medical Council was established after a Special Meeting of the hospital’s Board of Management held on 25 March 1971. The Council acted as an advisory body to the Board on all medical matters. It was agreed that the functions of the Council were: i) to receive recommendations and submissions from the medical staff of the hospital and to advise the Board of Management thereon; (ii) to facilitate long term planning within the hospital; (iii) to initiate policy in the field of hospital development. It was agreed that the Medical Council should consist of four members of the Senior Medical Staff (excluding full-time University Staff), two members of the Staff of the University Departments in the hospital, the Medical Superintendent, the Matron, a representative of the Resident Medical Staff, and the Manager of the hospital.  Since its inception in 1972, the Medical Council had been the formal link between medical staff and the Board of Management. It undertook many projects including Medical Staff structure recommendations and hospital extensions to meet changing demands. In 1973-74, the Medical Council established a special committee to deal with problems of hospital development. Disbandment of the Medical Council was mentioned at the Medical Council meeting held on 1 June 1982. The final meeting of the Medical Council occurred on 15 June 1982. The Medical Advisory Committee replaced the Medical Council, effective from 1 July 1982 (see VPRS 19409 Medical Advisory Committee Minutes).

本系列馆藏包含亨利王子医院（Prince Henry’s Hospital，前身为1869-1876年的墨尔本顺势疗法诊所、1876-1934年的墨尔本顺势疗法医院）医疗委员会（Medical Council）的会议记录卷宗（馆藏号VA 441）。
该医疗委员会于1971年3月25日医院管理委员会特别会议后成立，作为医院管理委员会的医疗事务咨询机构。经议定，该委员会的职能包括：一、接收医院医务人员的建议与提案，并向管理委员会提供咨询意见；二、推动医院内部的长期规划工作；三、牵头制定医院发展领域的相关政策。
经议定，医疗委员会的组成人员包括：四名高级医务人员（不含全职大学职员）、两名医院内大学院系工作人员、医务主管、护士长、住院医务人员代表以及医院经理。
自1972年成立以来，医疗委员会始终是医务人员与医院管理委员会之间的正式沟通纽带。其牵头开展了多项工作，包括制定医务人员编制结构相关建议、扩建医院以适配不断变化的医疗需求。1973至1974年间，医疗委员会设立了专项委员会，负责处理医院发展相关问题。
1982年6月1日召开的医疗委员会会议上，首次提及了该委员会的解散事宜。医疗委员会的末次会议于1982年6月15日召开。医疗咨询委员会自1982年7月1日起正式接替医疗委员会的职能（详见馆藏号VPRS 19409《医疗咨询委员会会议记录》）。
