资源简介:
Pollen and macrofloral samples were examined from the floor of a large, straight-sided
pit at Site 42SL285 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This site is a Fremont habitation site with pit houses,
a burial, animal bone, and artifacts. The floor and sides of the pit (Feature 3) were covered with
mud, some of which was partially fired. This pit is believed to have been used initially as a
storage pit. A single human male skeleton was found in the pit fill and trash was recovered
above that. Pollen and macrofloral analyses of four samples scraped from the floor of this pit
will provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants and possibly
stored in the pit prior to its use as a burial pit.
