POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A FREMONT PIT AT 42SL285, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH

Pollen and macrofloral samples were examined from the floor of a large, straight-sided pit at Site 42SL285 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This site is a Fremont habitation site with pit houses, a burial, animal bone, and artifacts. The floor and sides of the pit (Feature 3) were covered with mud, some of which was partially fired. This pit is believed to have been used initially as a storage pit. A single human male skeleton was found in the pit fill and trash was recovered above that. Pollen and macrofloral analyses of four samples scraped from the floor of this pit will provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants and possibly stored in the pit prior to its use as a burial pit.对美国犹他州盐湖城42SL285遗址内一处大型直壁坑穴的坑底样品，开展了孢粉与大植物遗存（macrofloral）分析。该遗址属于弗里蒙特（Fremont）文化人居遗址，遗存包含坑屋、墓葬、动物骨骼与人工制品。该坑（编号3号遗迹）的坑底与坑壁覆盖有泥层，其中部分泥层曾局部受热烧结。据推测，该坑最初被用作储藏坑。坑内堆积中出土一具男性人类骸骨，其上方层位发现了垃圾遗存。对从该坑坑底刮取的四份样品进行孢粉与大植物遗存分析，将有助于获取遗址居民所利用的植物资源相关信息，以及该坑被用作墓葬坑之前可能储存在坑内的植物遗存相关信息。
