To test the hypothesis that mtDNA haplotype influences structure, bioenergetic response, and gene expression in isolated cardiomyocytes subjected to cyclical stretch or ACF. We then performed gene expression profiling analysis using data obtained from RNA-seq of cardiomycytes isolated from mitochondria-nuclear exchange (MNX) mice in which the mitochondria (mt) and nuclear (n) genomes from wild-type C57BL/6J (C57n:C57mt) and C3H/HeN (C3Hn:C3Hmt) mice have been reciprocally exchanged to generate respective MNX mice (C57n:C3Hmt or C3Hn:C57mt) under two conditions: sham and ACF.
