资源简介:
This scoping review adopted the Arksey and O’Malley (2005) framework, which enabled a thorough and systematic search process of the literature to establish the full range and nature of the literature published on the chosen study topic. The framework involved a five-step interactive process: (1) identification of the research question, (2) identification of relevant studies, (3) study choice, (4) charting the data and (5) collating, summarising, and communicating the outcomes. Each step was returned to and advanced during the review.Identifying the research questionHow inclusive 3rd level education is experienced by people with intellectual disability? This question was addressed by identifying the range and extent of international literature reporting the experiences of people with an intellectual disability undertaking a third-level college/university programme.Identifying relevant studies: A systematic search of 5 databases (Scopus, British Education Index, ERIC (EBSCO), Australian Education Index, and SPORTDiscus - EBSCO) relevant to education will be conducted using keyword search strings. Each search/string will utilise Boolean operators OR/AND. Search string 1 will use the keywords.“intellectual disabilit*” OR “mental retardation” OR “learning disabilit*” OR “developmental disabilit*” OR “intellectual and developmental disabilit*”. Search string 2 will use the keywords; “higher education” OR “college” OR “university” OR “post-secondary” OR “postsecondary” OR “3rd level” OR “third level” OR “third-level” . Search string 3 will use the keywords; “inclusi*” OR “participation” OR “involvement” OR “diversity" OR “presence”.
Additionally, hand searching of the reference lists (backward chaining) to identify papers that meet the inclusion criteria will be performed as databases may only yield 50% of eligible studies due to indexing and inconsistent search terminology (Whittmore and Knaf, 2005). All papers meeting the Inclusion criteria will be included in this review.
The inclusion criteria are as follows:
• People with intellectual disability engaging in 3rd-level education
• Programme on-campus experience
• The experience of people with intellectual disability
• Primary evidence
• Peer reviewed.
• Dates 2002 to 2023
• English language
