Impacts of Generative AI on Agile Teams' Productivity: A Multi-Case Longitudinal Study

This repository provides the supporting materials for the longitudinal multi-case study: "Impacts of Generative AI on Agile Teams' Productivity: A Multi-Case Longitudinal Study". The research investigated the sustained impact of GenAI tools (GitHub Copilot and internal GPT tool) on the productivity of three agile teams over 13 months. The analysis utilized the SPACE framework, which evaluates productivity across five dimensions. The materials included here provide the supporting documentation for the study: Source Code: The source codes were run on Google Colab, and were divided into 2 artifacts: One for the anonymization and cleaning of the real data and for generating anonymized artifacts. The other was for performing the analyses based on the anonymized data, which were used for writing the results of the article. To run the artifacts in Colab, it is necessary to: Set the variable data_from_google_drive to True if you wish to download the artifacts from Google Drive. Set it to False if you wish to use the repository directly from Google Colab, creating the necessary folders: Anonymization: requires the folders: "anonymized_data" (output for the anonymized files), "raw_data" (with the input files extracted from the tools and survey form, as well as support files for anonymization and enrichment). Analysis: requires the following folders in Colab: "anonymized_data" (containing anonymized files), "analysis_files_and_data" (the algorithm will place the graphs and supplementary analyses here). Anonymized Files: form_research.csv - file containing the Likert-scale responses and comments from the developers. git_commit_line_counter.csv - file with commit information. jira.csv - information containing Jira data. sonar_dupplicated_lines.csv - file containing duplicate lines information. sonar_issues.csv - issue information reported by SonarQube, including severity data. sonar_quality_gate.csv - quality gate information during the pipeline process.
