A Drifter Dataset from the European Space Agency Ocean Training Course 2025

This dataset gathers the successive locations of 23 surface drifters deployed during the European Space Agency Ocean Training Course 2025. It is split in two sub-datasets: one for the "SPOT" drifters, a low-cost drifter design, and one for the MARGET drifters, designed and commercialized by the company Collecte Localisation Satellites. The SPOT drifters were deployed in four sets of five units: (i) South of Iceland, (ii) off Britany, (iii) in the Bay of Cádiz, and (iv) in the Balearic Sea. A live, up-to-date version of the dataset is available on IGE OPeNDAP. SPOT drifters locations can be visualized in the OVL portal. Note: location data is distributed as is, without post-processing.
