Signal areas

Signalling areas are not yet developed areas with a hard regional planning use (residential area, industrial area, etc.) which can also play a role in dealing with water nuisance because they may be overflowing or because of specific soil characteristics as a natural spunds.If, after a thorough analysis of a signal area, it appears that the risk of water nuisance when developing the area according to the destination is greater than the decision of the Flemish Government to proceed to that area. In the follow-up section, the Flemish Government shall define a development perspective for the area and determine the instrument by which the development perspective is to be achieved. If the signalling area is to be repurposed, the Flemish Government shall also indicate to the administration that the initiative must be taken to carry out the repurposing.
