Age and distance of the SNR G272.2-3.2

GT G272.23.2 is a shelltype SNR of virgul15. diameter discovered in the ROSATallsky survey. It has been confirmed by measurements of nonthermal radioemission at 1.4, 2.4, 4.8 GHz. The Xray spectrum is rather hard with anapparent temperature of 14 Mill. K. Distance estimates run from 1 to 2.8 kpc,which we want to constrain further as well as the age by measurements with XMM.The high temperature is conspicuous and might mimic a powerlaw type spectrum,which, if confirmed, would put G272.23.2 in the same class of Xray nonthermalshell type SNRs as SN 1006, RX J0852.04622, etc. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
