The Danish Fungi 2020 Dataset was created by CentraleSupélec. It contains 295,938 fungal images spanning 1,604 fine-grained categories. In addition to the image data, the dataset provides detailed metadata for each fungus, including its geographic location, habitat, and substrate. The dataset was developed to serve as a challenging evaluation platform for few-shot image classification models, particularly in real-world industrial applications that require distinguishing between a large number of visually similar objects. By utilizing this dataset, researchers can evaluate and improve the performance of models on complex and diverse tasks, thereby getting closer to solving real-world image recognition problems.
