Paired End Raw Reads of two specimen of Macrovipera lebetinus lebetinus

This study aims to sequence and annotate the complete (mitochondrial) genome of Macrovipera lebetinus lebetinus, the only venomous snake endemic to Cyprus. The species is classified as threatened under Appendix II of the Bern Convention, and its genetic resources remain limited. By providing the first complete genome for Macrovipera lebetinus lebetinus, this project fills a critical gap in the available genetic data for the genus Macrovipera. The newly sequenced genome will serve as a valuable resource for future research on the species' phylogenetic placement, evolutionary history, and conservation genetics.
