Water Quality Report Card – Elk River

A story map documenting the history of the Elk River and the factors that led to the adoption of the Upper Elk River TMDL for sediment in 2016. This story map draws upon a variety of data sources and media types, including historical maps, aerial imagery, and photography, to recount the history of the watershed and how early logging practices dramatically altered the geology of the area, causing high volumes of sediment to erode into the Elk River and its tributaries. This story map is featured in the 2019 Water Quality Status Report.
