Dataset for epidemiological investigation of hand eczema among healthcare workers

This dataset contains the epidemiological survey data from a multicenter cross-sectional study of hand eczema (HE) among healthcare workers (HCWs) in Shanghai, China, performed between April and December 2025. A self-administered online questionnaire survey was conducted among HCWs at nine hospitals of different levels and types. The questionnaire covered demographics, medical history, HE prevalence and manifestations, and hand hygiene practices (type and frequency of hand hygiene, glove wearing, hand moisturizer use). A total of 1,994 valid questionnaires were collected, of which 678 respondents reported HE in the past year, yielding a prevalence of 34.00%. The dataset is provided in CSV with a data dictionary defining all variables and coding. It supports secondary analysis of occupational skin disease epidemiology and hand hygiene-related risk factors. All data are anonymized; the study was approved by the institutional ethics committee, and informed consent was obtained from all participants.
