资源简介:
The Pasifika Women’s Diabetes Wellness Program (PWDWP) is a culturally framed intervention co-designed with Maori and Pasifika women living with type 2 diabetes in Queensland. Framed within the Indigenous Pacific Health models, the program considers the cultural shame associated with acknowledging the disease and tailors the interventions using talanoa as the key strategy to come to a shared meaning for behaviour change7. The PWDWP is a 24-week Whānau (family) centred intervention delivered by a trained Nurse Diabetes Educator who identifies as Pasifika through whānau workshops and virtual consultation, enabling the women to self-manage their type 2 diabetes. This trial evaluates the effectiveness of the PWDWP for improved HbA1c levels associated with poor management of type 2 diabetes. It will examine intervention efficacy (i.e. improved HbA1c levels, diabetes self-care, waist circumference and BMI. This could potentially slow the development of diabetes complications, reduce late hospitalisations and minimise social and economic burden.
