Named rivers

This dataset displays named rivers in the Taranaki Region. It is based on the latest data provided by LINZ and toporivers from topographic maps dating back to the 1970s and 1980s. The dataset excludes all unnamed tributaries and streams. Attributes of the dataset include River ID, Name, Length, etc. It is a feature layer utilized in Local Maps and Open Data Portal, covering the Taranaki Region. Data collection and capture were conducted by LINZ and Topo river maps, supplemented by local knowledge, primarily from Chris Fowles, a freshwater scientist at Taranaki Regional Council. Some limited editing has been performed to better align with aerial photography. Publication and distribution have been managed by TRC since September 22, 2020.
