NRS-15899 | Timebooks of the Locomotive Department

This series records details of employees and their attendance at the Locomotive Department, and comprises three volumes."No.1 Timebook" is for the period 2 January, 1857 - 22 September, 1860. Each double page represents a fortnight and lists employees by name, occupation, days of week attended, total of days worked, and rate of pay. The total of wages paid to all employees is also calculated for the fortnight.The second volume covers the period 1 January - 2 September, 1865. It includes an index grouping the names of employees according to occupation and area (Western Sydney and Richmond). Rate of pay and page number in volume is also noted. Entries devoted to particular employees are for a period of several months and records name, occupation, description of work performed, date, and total days worked per fortnight. The third volume for the period 1 April, 1866 - 23 May, 1868, is of a similar format to the previous volume but is lacking an index. However the Return of Costs for making a new engine ("Engine No.10") are provided at the back of the volume, with calculations regarding labour, wages, costs of drawings and patterns made included. A list of employees, occupation, rate of pay, total days worked and total of wages paid are included in this section.Custody History:From 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R122. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R122 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管沿革
1955年至2000年间，新南威尔士州铁路管理局（State Rail Authority of New South Wales）设立了内部档案馆，馆藏涵盖该局及其前身机构、被政府收购的私营铁路公司的档案记录，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。在决定关闭"州铁路档案馆"后，符合州档案馆收录要求的馆藏部分被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局（State Records Authority of NSW）。这批档案被纳入州档案系列归档体系，并重新进行了编号。
